Coyne Airways Milestones
1994
Coyne Aviation founded by Larry Coyne as a charter broker specialising in the former Soviet states.
1995/1996
Coyne Air is incorporated, later changing its name to Coyne Airways. Registered as an airline with ICAO designator 7C and AWB code 575
1996
Scheduled services into the Caspian region are launched using IL-76 aircraft, initially via a hub in Baku which is later moved to Tbilisi. Coyne is the first carrier offering scheduled cargo services from the west into this region.
1997
Services to Aktau and Atyrau in Western Kazakhstan are launched to support the development of huge Tengizchevroil oilfields next to the Caspian Sea.
1998
Weekly flights to Uralsk opened to support the BG gas field Karachaganak.
2000
Coyne Airways again plays pioneer, this time with the first scheduled freighter service to Sakhalin island in the Russian Far East. Services are operated from Seoul to the capital Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to support oil and gas projects.
2001
A Chairman of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), Larry Coyne becomes actively involved in reducing the stiff new regulations imposed on air cargo security in the wake of 9/11
2004
Coyne is the first carrier offering scheduled cargo service into post-war Iraq following the end of combat operations with a service to Baghdad, which is later followed by services to Balad, Erbil and Basra.
2005
Coyne Airways opens an office in Dubai Free Zone to cater for the growing cargo market in the Middle East.
2006
Scheduled services are launched into Afghanistan offering connections from around the globe into the key military bases of Bagram and Kandahar. Services to Camp Bastion and Kabul soon follow.
2006
Boeing 747F services commence from London-Stansted and Cologne-Bonn to Tbilisi, the first scheduled B747 service for Tbilisi Airport.
2009
The first scheduled freighter link between Europe and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan is launched by Coyne Airways offering much needed freighter capacity into this market.
2012
Coyne spreads its wings into Africa, working with regional partners to link the Middle East, North America and Europe with a number of African destinations.
2014
Coyne Airways celebrates 20 years of serving challenging destinations with continued services to the Caspian region and expanded operations in the Gulf and Africa.
2020
Coyne Airways expands further in the Caucasus, initiating the only direct freighter service from Europe to Yerevan. The service starts with B737 freighters but is quickly up-graded to the B757F.
2020
Chief Executive Larry Coyne inaugurated into the prestigious TIACA Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements as an air cargo pioneer and industry champion. for his work helping to improve security, liberalise traffic rights and grow the air cargo industry.
2023
Widebody equipment is introduced on the Yerevan route to meet growing customer demand.
2024
Coyne Airways reaches a landmark 30 years of service having completed over 20000 flights and carried 400,000 tons to some of the most challenging destinations on earth.
